BRECKENRIDGE - Larry Crispell wants voters to send him back to Breckenridge Town Council so he can expand on a wealth of accomplishments from previous terms.
"When people choose to vote for me, they can have the confidence that I've actually walked the talk," he said. "I can look back on a track record of housing, early childhood options, open space and trails and say 'I'm proud of what I as a town council member have achieved in that 10-year period.'"
Crispell, 62, was appointed to fill a vacancy in 1996 and was re-elected twice before he was term-limited in 2006. Now eligible once again, he intends to lead again to improve quality of life in the town.
His past efforts include increasing the number of attainable-housing units from 50 to 531 during his town council tenure and helping to get an open space tax approved that led to 4,000 acres of open space.

BRECKENRIDGE - The BreckConnect Gondola could operate daily this summer as Breckenridge Ski Resort plans to reduce bus use and open an alpine coaster at the Peak 8 Fun Park.
The gondola was built with the intent of extending hours beyond winter, but the town's environmental consultant expressed concerns regarding potential effects to birds breeding in the Cucumber Gulch area.
"Birds will most likely be disturbed by the operation noise of the gondola as well as the noise from the passengers. I recommend that the gondola not run during June and July, and if that is not possible then to limit its operation to the afternoon ..." according to a letter from Christy Carello to council dated last August.
The resort has proposed running the gondola from 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. daily, from June 18 to Sept. 6. Breckenridge Town Council is to discuss the proposal at Tuesday's work session starting at about 4 p.m.

BRECKENRIDGE - Candidates for Breckenridge Town Council offered their positions on local issues Thursday night before dozens of people at town hall.
Several of the seven candidates - competing for three seats in the April 6 election - had distinct opinions on how the town might be improved.
"I'm lately seeing a lot of great families move away from Breckenridge," said Ben Brewer, 42, the only candidate raised in the town.
He said that while the town has done "a lot of great things to keep them here" with great amenities, it is missing a "sustainable economic piece of year-round jobs."
Brewer said increasing such jobs will be his "main focus."
Larry Crispell, 62, a former council member of 10 years, said improving heritage tourism will help to attract people who spend more money.

BRECKENRIDGE - The Breckenridge Planning Commission is on board with a proposed alpine coaster at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
The commission voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the project; the plan will go before the Breckenridge Town Council March 23.
"Overall, it was fairly well received as an asset to the town," Planning Commission chair Rodney Allen said. "We felt it fit into the character of the ski area as another recreational amenity."
An alpine coaster is similar to an alpine slide, but the sleds run on rails set in a raised track, rather than in a trough. Breckenridge already has an alpine slide.
According to Allen, the coaster's potential visual impacts received close scrutiny by the commission.
"There is going to be substantially less visual impact than the current alpine slide, which is out in the open," Allen said.
The coaster will be located between two ski runs in a healthy stand of trees, comprised of a variety
